Minecraft's New Dual-Wield System?

Within the realm of Minecraft, the battle system went from constant mouse clicking to making the player think about timing their approach to a combat situation, making combat interesting to deal with. Through the update on Minecraft, players are now given much more opportunity to come up with a strategy when facing both players and mobs alike. With the off-hand slot now implemented, players are given a shield to match their sword, different kinds of arrows to choose from, or they can even equip both a mining tool and torches at once. While this may take away from the constant mashing of the mouse button to just try and kill the enemy as fast as possible, it allows for a much more realistic feel on combat. If a player tried to swipe their sword as fast as they can, they’ll soon realize that they will no longer be able to deal more damage that way. Instead, timing their strikes allows all players a chance to win and not just the player with the fastest clicking speed mixed with the strongest enchanted sword. The use of the shield also allows players to block arrows that, before, had not been blockable except for standing behind something. So with different kinds of arrows, this shield will prove useful to stave off any unwanted status effects that certain arrows may cause. It may be a huge change, but this update was definitely something necessary to make the combat in this game much more entertaining and strategic.
